About EMOKHALFA.com

احترس.. فـ emokhalfa.com ترصدك!

Book Review: "Ibn Al-Gama'a" or "Son of the MB"

Image
I have to congratulate myself for reading this book cover to cover. I didn't back off; I was determined to finish it once and for all. I knew it may take me quite some time to wrap it up, but I was delighted I was able to do so. Despite my personal insights on some elements in this novel, I couldn't help but wonder about its ending. You'll find a lot of my inputs in this review. "Ibn Al Gama'a" is a novel written by a new Egyptian writer named, Ahmed Hossam Al-Din. It's obvious that's it's his first trial, however the plot is quite interesting to read. Indeed, its title is catchy, especially due to our current events in Egypt; how the Muslim Brotherhood are active and highly engaged in our political scene at the moment. Narrating his own life story about how he was brought up among the MB community, Mustafa Mustafa Mahmoud Al-Taba'ei, the main character, starts by stating few detailed facts about his family and his home town, Al-Monofeyah. Mo...

You've Got the Love!

Image
It's never too late to start living. It's never too late to be recognizable, to feel alive, or to embrace life. You deserve to be treated with respect, for you have rights for a better future. Believe that you can achieve beyond your imagination. Never belittle yourself. Never think you're less than anyone else. Never underestimate your intuition. Become your own best friend to have the will of overcoming, conquering, and defeating your own demons.  According to Psychologists, "Personality" is defined as a combination of emotional, attitudinal, and behavioral response patterns of an individual. Consequently, these patterns develop your character, as they shape your lifecycle. Govern them, you'll blossom; abuse them, you'll breathe heavily. Everyone of us has his/her mechanism, which is regularly affected by various inputs, and this is how we're evolved into the people we are today. To be able to peacefully get along with yourself, refle...

If yes, then what did you really do about it?! Did you ever consider figuring out what's going on? I understand how cranky you must feel, and I know it's not anyone's duty to understand the way you do, nor try to picture it for you. But, why don't you give it a try?! I'm sure there is someone somewhere who cares to help. How about we make a deal?! Let's review this together. I'll invite you to live my life for a day, and I'll try yours. What will you do if I asked to experience the timeline you've been living for years? How would  you feel about that? Give it a thought, how will we live our different routines if we decided to swap lives? How will the day turn out to be for us? I bet we'll see it differently, maybe act upon it with a whole other dimension that we never t...

Power to the Writers! Photo by : Basma Fathy.  Edited by: Ahmed Atef Megahed An interview with Shaymaa El-Gammal , Journalist & Media Consultant Believe it or not, a lot of people are actually afraid to look themselves in the mirror each day. They're not all excited about facing their daily routines and responsibilities; managing to suppress their feelings inside, not giving themselves a chance to breathe freely every now and then. However when they start asking for help, they usually receive the same advice; "Go away, travel sometime, lighten up a bit, you need to change…" Nonetheless, no one actually helps them, only until they meet a wise man who would instruct them to start writing. Yes, to simply start pouring out what they have in mind, heart, and soul in papers to release the amount of pressure they are facing every single day. Consequently, this power of confession comes to their rescue. It revives their soul and helps them explore a ...

Book Review: Shaymaa El-Gammal's "Ta2 Marbouta"

Image
http://www.facebook.com/Shaymaa.Gammal Cute! That's the first thing that came to my mind when I grabbed Shaymaa El Gammal's "Ta2 Marbouta." Its design gave me an impression that the book is certainly a fun, different ride; small and colorful, yet very enjoyable to read. It's very rare that I find Arabic books with appealing illustrations that goes along the readings as well. So, here's what I thought about the book after reading it cover to cover. Shaymaa managed to gather some of her personal life experiences, day-dreaming revelations, along with few interesting resolutions; reciting bits and pieces of what she believes in. It is quite shown that she gave her all and poured what she had in her heart to be able to write the chapters of this book. This book is her first experience in the world of publishing, however she's been writing for years now as a journalist in several magazines. Every girl will definitely relate to a chapter or two. The boo...

If You Like It, Then You Should Put a Ring on It ;)

http://andrahilde.devianta rt.com/ Hmm… speaking of the devil, "COMMITMENT" is usually the sum of all fears; the scariest action a man has to do. But, a person has to be fair, as well, because there are some men who are craving for some love and dedication in their lives. Obviously, those aren't the ones whom we will be talking about here. Let's first review the meaning of Commitment, shall we? The What Usually, Commitment is to be able to fully give in to the person that you love and desire. It is to be devoted and willing to love unconditionally, while having the courtesy of being responsible and living up to it. But, let's face it; that's how WOMEN see it. Men, on the other hand, think of it as some sort of entrapment. Unfortunately, it has been widely spread nowadays among their species that it is the hardest decision they will have to take through their entire lives. Then again, they're the ones who own the keys to the whole ki...

EAT PRAY LOVE

Image
I simply LOVE IT! .. All three together... The Book, The Movie, The Author! A story never felt so real or as realistic as this one .. I know a lot may find it a depressing issue, but if anyone didn't benefit from such a book, he/she is definitely a hypocrite! Then again, I don't want to be harsh .. Maybe, whoever doesn't relate to it, didn't have a real dilemma in his/her life, and we can only pray for that to be true .. The fact that Elizabeth Gilbert tackles the issue of our "Passion" in life, personally means a great deal to me, and I think to everyone whose really in need of a real change in his/her life. She simply answered our only constant question, "Why do we exist?" 1- We EAT : Recalling the sense of TASTE, we have to search for the QUALITY, not the QUANTITY. 2- We PRAY : Realizing that FAITH is what really revives us, and not " The Secret ." :D 3- We LOVE : Referring to the one and only feeling that manages to mainta...

Street Art… Or Is It?

Image
Street Art… Or Is It? According to Wikipedia.com, Graffiti “is any type of public markings that may appear in the forms of simple written words to elaborate wall paintings.” Meanwhile, for some Egyptians, it’s nothing but some useless scraps that are found under bridges or forgotten alleys. But for Graffiti artists, it’s a non-existing art that they struggle day-by-day to showcase. It’s their own way of expressing what they have to say to the world. We’ve interviewed one of those artists in an attempt to understand, whether street art really exists in Egypt or not. MM: Tell us about yourself. Mahmoud: I’m Mahmoud Aly, known as ‘Mahmoud Graffiti’ among my friends. I’m 17 years old, living in Alexandria. I have a habit of doing some Graffiti work in several places, like night clubs, billiard or play station centers… etc. Also, I do some drawings for Egyptian rappers. MM: What does your work symbolize? Mahmoud: My work usually represents our freedom of speech, as well as my point...

It’s when you feel you’re born again; you’re given a chance to live a life of harmony, a life of peace and tranquility. Yet, along the past years, we started to have mixed feelings. The holy month of Ramadan started losing its true essence. Some people think its spirituality is not here anymore. However, others maintain to preserve their annual rituals by focusing on what is beneficial. Ramadan isn’t a festival of TV shows and Entertaining Tents, it’s about purifying your soul and seeking a better life. As the Almighty ALLAH says, "Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you who witness this month shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may substitute the same number of other days. Allah wishes for you convenience, not hardship, that you may fulfill...
